FX's Alien Series Finally Has An Official Title

This year marks the 45th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s Alien and there’s a lot to celebrate. The next entry in the Alien franchise, Alien: Romulus, is arriving in theaters in August. And while fans are going to have to wait longer for FX’s Alien TV series, which has been in the works for five years, we now know the first-ever Alien television show’s name: Alien: Earth.

Via Variety, FX President John Langraf confirmed that the show will be called Alien: Earth, since the series takes place on our world before the events of Scott’s film. Landgraf also mentioned that FX is prioritizing a potential second season of Alien: Earth over a sixth season of Fargo.

“We’re pretty bullish on Alien: Earth and we’ve told [showrunner Noah Hawley] that assuming, as we hope, Alien: Earth is a returning television series, we want him to focus on on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of Fargo,” said Landgraf.

In a separate interview with Variety, Hawley confirmed that Alien: Earth has finished filming and the show is currently in post-production.
